I decided at the end of last week to get in contact with a family friend, Dave Greenwood, who served in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers for 24 years, and also volunteered at SSAFA- the Armed Forces charity. He was able to give me a few contacts, including another SSAFA volunteer who is based up in Scotland. I have arranged a Skype interview with him to hear about the work which they do.
Dave also made me aware of the Armed Forces Breakfast Club, an organisation which allows serving personnel and veterans to meet up a couple of times a month over breakfast to network and make friends. The breakfasts are hosted all around the country, so I got in contact with the one in Christchurch and have arranged to go and film there on Saturday.
